A resident of Coachella, California, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of violating federal narcotics laws, Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced today.
Freddy Felix, 32, pleaded guilty to two counts before Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.
In connection with the guilty plea, the Court was advised that, from July 25, 2023, to August 30, 2023, Felix conspired to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
Additionally, on August 30, 2023, Felix possessed with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
Judge Fischer scheduled sentencing for August 6, 2025. The law provides for a total maximum sentence of not less than 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $10 million, or both.
Under the federal sentencing guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offences and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Pending sentencing, the court ordered that the defendant remain detained.
