New York police have released images of the man they are looking for in the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson. The photos showed a man in a hooded jacket with a backpack, with almost all his face covered. He appeared to be a White man.
“Yes, there had been some threats,” Paulette Thompson, the victim’s wife, told NBC News. “Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”

Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare CEO, was shot dead Wednesday. He was on his way to speak at an investor conference in midtown Manhattan.
He was shot in the back and the right calf, police said, adding that the gunman was “lying in wait for several minutes.”

“The motive for this murder is currently unknown, but based on the evidence we have so far, it does appear the victim was specifically targeted,” Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said. “But at this point, we do not know why.”
